Planet Funk is an Italian musical group formed in 1999 from the merger of two bands: Souled Out (with Alessandro Sommella, Domenico “GG” Canu and Sergio Della Monica) and Kamasutra (Marco Baroni and Alex Neri). Their style blends electronic, rock, dance and psychedelia, creating a distinctive sound that has made them protagonists of the Italian and international music scene.
Their debut single, “Chase The Sun“ (2000), reached fifth position among the best-selling singles in the British charts, marking the beginning of a career full of successes. Among their other well-known tracks are “Inside All the People”, “Who Said (Stuck in the UK)”, “Lemonade “ and “Ora Il Mondo È Perfetto “, the latter in collaboration with Giuliano Sangiorgi, frontman of Negramaro.
Over the years, Planet Funk have collaborated with various international artists, including Dan Black, Sally Doherty, Raiz, John Graham (alias Quivver) and Alex Uhlmann. Despite the loss of two founding members, Sergio Della Monica in 2018 and Domenico “GG” Canu in 2025, the band has decided to continue their musical activity.
Among their latest discographic works is 20:20, released in 2020, which marks a return to their origins with an eye toward the future of electronic music.
